Tune a radio, warm your hands at a fire, catch a sunburn, sit for an X-ray — every time, you are using the same single thing. Radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, gamma rays are not different substances. They are one electromagnetic field, vibrating at different speeds. Radio is only light too slow and long for our eyes; colour is just the signal our eyes happen to catch.
So there is no ladder of realness running from "in person" at the top down to "mere signal." There is one continuous spectrum, and we live our whole lives inside it. The voice on a call and the light off a face across a table are the same phenomenon, cut at different wavelengths.
One field. No separate signals — no more than there are separate airs.
